  • How many Coaching sessions are needed?
The duration depends on the issue itself and the number of issues. My personal goal is to achieve a clear improvement already after one session and to make myself "unnecessary" as fast as possible (after 2-5 sessions).
  • What is Coaching?
Coaching comes from English and can best be translated as “help for self-help”. The point is that you learn to solve problems and conflicts yourself in a sustainable way. Misunderstandings and frustration often arise in both professional and private contexts because we focus too much on the problem. We are stuck in our own “problem experience”. In this state it is not possible for us to listen to our inner self and seek solutions. Coaching represents a time-limited and solution-oriented support, taking the focus away from the problem towards a solution. As an essential part of personal development, coaching enables you to gain new insights and perspectives. You will learn how to deal with challenges more calmly and gain clarity about your needs, goals, values and resources. Common Coaching topics in both private and professional areas include: Resolving inner- and external conflicts Support in making a decision Helping out with change Accompanying a change in perspective Building mental strength Strengthening self-esteem and self-confidence Resilience and burnout prevention Personality development You are at the center piece of our collaboration. You are the expert with the issue you have and you already carry the solution within you. In my role as a coach, I accompany the process of identifying your concerns and developing possible solutions in order to achieve a goal that you can achieve in a reasonable amount of time. I use proven, effective methods and various questioning techniques for achieving our goal.

Coaching is a matter of trust and I recommend to pay attention to following: Does the Coach fit your topic? Check whether the coach is competent in your topic. The first source can be the provider's website. Does the Coach have the necessary training? You can search for the necessary certificates on the Coach's website. These can be from the large Coaching associations such as the dvct, ECA or ICF or also from the German IHK (German Chamber of Commerce and Industry). Is the Coach the right one for you? There you can also ask any questions and find out whether your Coach makes a competent impression on you.

  • What is the difference between Coaching and Therapy?
Coaching only deals with topics that are not disease-related and is not a replacement for therapy. Although many methods come from therapeutic procedures, the prerequisite is normal psychological and physical resilience. In addition, the work in Coaching is solution- and goal-oriented and not deficit-oriented. Many people are looking for a therapy because the costs of dealing with a topic can be covered by their health insurance. Not every topic in therapy is due to a disease. At the same time, waiting times for a therapy place are very long while Coaching is available more quickly. If necessary, Coaching can bridge the waiting time. However, this depends on the topic and must be found out in advance in a conversation.

It's worth asking your employer about this. Coaching affects all areas of life and your employer also benefits from it, if you want to develop yourself further in your private life for example.
